Memorial Gardens

A place to pause and remember, celebrate and mourn, in the most comforting of settings.

We are fortunate to have over 10 acres of landscaped grounds overlooking the surrounding countryside and waters across to Maldon. At this time, the planting is still very new but improvements can be seen every day and we are committed to creating the most wonderful setting for funerals and some beautiful private spaces for loved ones to be remembered.

This includes our Orchard Garden where a range of individual plots have been laid out against a backdrop of newly planted apple, cherry and pear trees.

A crescent of apple trees are also available alongside our feature pond with more informal positions available within the wider grounds, closer to the woodland and countryside that surrounds us.

Given our natural setting, it is important that our memorial options are provided sensitively with the more formal types, such as granite headstones, arranged within specially created secluded areas. This means that there is some careful restriction on these positions to preserve the overall landscape for all visitors but our grounds are spacious and there are plenty of possibilities. Our team will guide you through your range of options to best meet your requirements.

Finding Comfort Together - Guidance on Selecting Your Ideal Memorial Option

At this sensitive time, choosing a memorial that honours your loved one’s memory in the most meaningful way, is deeply personal. Understanding your options can help you find the choice that resonates best with your wishes and those of your family.

Scattering Ashes

Scattering ashes can offer a sense of freedom and connection with nature. Many families find comfort in the gentle act of releasing ashes into the wind, symbolising a loved one’s return to the natural world. Memorial gardens provide serene, beautifully landscaped areas where ashes can be scattered thoughtfully and respectfully. Please note, once scattered, ashes cannot be recovered.

Burial of Ashes

The burial of ashes offers a tangible, lasting place of remembrance. You may choose to bury ashes loosely or in a carefully selected urn or bio box. Our gardens offer peaceful, dedicated plots designed for more longer term places of remembrance . As a minimum, a lease of 20 years has to be taken out for a burial. If ashes are buried loosely, retrieving ashes is generally not possible. However, ashes buried in an urn can typically be exhumed if circumstances change in the future. It is important to note that exhumation typically requires an application to be made for a licence before the process can be undertaken.

Above-Ground Memorials

Choosing an above-ground memorial, such as one of our Leaf Vaults, provides a dignified and accessible tribute. These memorials not only protect and preserve the ashes in elegant surroundings but also create a tranquil place for family and friends to visit and remember. Ashes stored in above-ground memorials can be respectfully retrieved or relocated if necessary.

Each memorial option has its unique character and offers distinct emotional comforts. By understanding these differences, you can make a thoughtful decision that honours your loved one’s memory beautifully and meaningfully.
